Vinyl has enjoyed a huge resurgence as a desirable “retro” item in recent years, but it’s only a matter of time until the trend fizzles out amongst young hipster types.
On the other hand, people of a certain age know that nothing will ever beat vinyl – it will always be the real thing if you were born before the 1980s.
There’s something about the sound of the needle landing on the edge of the outer groove, and the delicious crackle that precedes the first note, whether your ear candy of choice is 1960s girl groups, classic seventies Bowie, or totally 80s Europe. Not to mention the artwork, of course.
So, let’s make the most of our record collections, and treasure them while we still can. After all, this could be The Vinyl Countdown before LPs and 45s become totally extinct. It’s a tragedy waiting to happen. 😥
